This fellowship is established to support emerging and early-career scholars from the Global South to participate in the International Symposium on Global South Studies in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam in 2026. Aligned with the Global South Collective’s mission to amplify intellectual exchange and scholarship in Global South, the fellowship provides financial assistance to help offset participation costs for presenters with accepted abstracts. This fellowship seeks to reduce structural and financial barriers that often limit scholarly participation and visibility, particularly for researchers whose work is grounded in Global South contexts, lived experiences, and community-engaged knowledge. By supporting participation in the 2026 symposium in Vietnam, the fellowship aims to foster inclusive dialogue, strengthen transnational scholarly networks, and elevate diverse voices within Global South studies.
Application Process
Applicants must submit their abstracts through the symposium’s online abstract submission portal. In addition, applicants should complete the Dr. Trinh’s Foundation Travel Fellowship statement, sharing the need and a summary of the proposed contribution’s relevance to Global South studies (no more than 250 words). The statement should be included with the abstract submission, stating “Dr. Trinh’s Foundation Travel Fellowship”. Priority will be given to emerging and early-career scholars whose participation would otherwise be constrained by limited institutional or personal resources. Fellowship recipients will be recognized as Dr. Trinh’s Travel Fellows in the symposium program.
